{"id":30241,"date":"2021-11-19T18:50:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-20T02:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jasonhall.ca\/music\/?p=30241"},"modified":"2021-11-19T19:13:20","modified_gmt":"2021-11-20T03:13:20","slug":"eb1-eb2-multiphonic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jasonhall.ca\/music\/eb1-eb2-multiphonic\/","title":{"rendered":"Eb1-Eb2 Multiphonic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The third multiphonic in the randomly selected list is the first I&#8217;m to document that is not an artifact of Jeffrey Ryan&#8217;s <em>Arbutus<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happily, this multiphonic is quick to respond and powerful making it a real rip-snorter when played with gusto. Yet it can also be played quite softly if you have a fluency for that sort of thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jasonhall.ca\/music\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/BFlat1Eflat2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30243\" width=\"213\" height=\"350\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Make note that without the low B key depressed, this merely plays a handsomely in-tune Eb over the break (that&#8217;s a post for another time). The combination of the open left hand first finger and the low B key are the active ingredients in making this baby work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I also mucked about with lowering the first finger left hand to \u2014 among other things \u2014 sound the low Eb, but also to find all sorts of delightful little <em>micro-multiphonics<\/em> (you heard it here first) that reside in the twilight world of sounds between everyday notes. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The recording I made is just the straight up in-your-face multiphonic, but I may get around to documenting some of the other nifty sounds possible (if I can figure out how to notate them).
